The Sights and Sounds of El Centro Ponce Puerto Rico

One of the most fascinating things I love about visiting a new town is walking around and seeing the different types of people, culture, and even prices of items compared to my home city of Los Angeles. The El Centro Ponce part of Puerto Rico is very barren. There isn’t much to see or do as a tourist outside of the main Plaza Las Delicias.

One of the main shopping arcades in El Centro is Paseo Atocha. Think of this as your local swap meet where you can bargain with street vendors. In addition, the shopping strip is surrounded by inexpensive shopkeepers.

El Centro Ponce looked very empty and many restaurants and shops looked empty or went out of business. There were only a handful of shops and restaurants open for business, but they didn’t look like they catered to the occasional tourist.
