Sheraton LaGuardia East Airport Hotel Review

I stayed at the Sheraton LaGuardia East Airport hotel last week as part of my second LAX-JFK-SJU-JFK-LAX mileage run. I had a red-eye flight from LAX-JFK and switched it to a morning flight so I could overnight and spend some time in New York. I booked the hotel using 5,000 Starpoints and $75 cash since hotels were still sky-high in New York due to the U.N. meeting. Rates in Manhattan were well over $500 a night at most properties.

When I arrived in LaGuardia airport, I called the Sheraton for a complimentary hotel shuttle pick up. The phone agent matched my name with the reservation on file and promptly sent over the shuttle which took 10 minutes.

I arrived at the Sheraton LaGuardia East hotel and it’s located in Flushing Main Street, which is a Chinese immigrant neighborhood.

My room wasn’t ready at 11am yet (sold out the night before), so the front desk agent told me to come back at noon to check in. I headed to lunch around the Flushing area and came back at noon to check in. The front desk agent advised me that there were no suite upgrades available today and she upgraded my room to the Club Floor.

The Sheraton LaGuardia hotel is Chinese themed, but the door was kind of scary looking. In Chinese superstition, it’s supposed to ward off all the evil from your room.

The room was surprisingly large with a king size bed, TV, huge work desk, and a comfy chair.

The bathroom was on the smaller scale with the usual Sheraton bath toiletries.

I didn’t have time to partake in evening appetizers or the morning breakfast in the Asian themed Club Lounge. However, I did use the Club Lounge for snacks and soft drinks readily available in the mini fridge.

Since hotel rates are sky high in Manhattan, the Sheraton LaGuardia offers a huge value in Cash & Points redemption. I paid 5,000 Starpoints and $75 which was not a bad deal at all considering some of the Four Points properties were going for over $700 a night in Manhattan. The E train is a block away and will take you into Manhattan for $2.50 one-way which is a complete bargain. The complimentary shuttle takes you to and from LGA airport which is a huge plus.

  1. That horse is still creepy. We had some wedding pictures with it in the background just for kicks.

Also, you can see planes taking off from LGA from the lounge. One of the windows is in the flight path of one of the runways. A bit scary at first.
