It was pretty much impossible to secure any type of ticket this morning during the second ticketing sales window for 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. I was placed in a never ending queue well after 9am Brasilia time and by the time my web browser transferred me to the next page, all the tickets were unavailable. I was shown this screen:

worldcup1

“Thank you for your interest in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™, a unique opportunity to see some of the game’s biggest stars compete in twelve wonderful host cities.

Please wait whilst we transfer you to the FIFA.com/tickets page. Due to an exceedingly high demand for access to the ticketing page, you have been placed in a virtual queue.

Please note, Tickets are allocated on a First-Come First-Served basis, so you are advised not to click away from this page if you wish to maintain your place in the queue.

Customers wishing to contact us with ticketing enquiries may do by phone on 0300 021 2014 for Brazilian residents, or +41 445 831000 for international customers.

We look forward to welcoming you and your guests to the tournament and trust you will enjoy the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ experience.”

According to the chart below, there is still hope for World Cup tickets in Sales Phase 2 which begins on December 8th, 2013.

Basically, orders that were rejected due to invalid credit cards, cancellations, extra tickets, etc will be available during Sales Phase 2. So, not all hope is gone and don’t give up yet. I will have a later post about strategies on how to secure World Cup tickets during Sales Phase 2.

Will you still try for World Cup tickets during Sales Phase 2 on December 8th?

  1. So there were no tickets available at all? I am still in the cue (have been for the past 24 minutes since the page opened). Pretty depressing. I just heard from a friend that he managed to score some tickets from corporate friends. I know its part of the game, but sad when people who dont care about the game get a tonne of tickets but the real football fans are left hanging.

  2. Is there no hope? It’s been half a hour, hoping I can finally get to ticket page

  3. Do you have a screenshot of what it shows after it takes you to the next page? I’m still on the virtual queue page.

  4. that’s bs I been trying to get in well before the 9 am time and at 5 minutes to I got the virtual screen and its 30 minutes later and its still going, has even gone to the next page.

  5. How did the ticket brokers get them when we all logged in same time? and Fiffa promises a fairness for all.

  6. Mine still hasn’t gone to the next page… I just want to see for myself that they’re sold out. To allow this thing to continue promising a “next page” is FIFA at its worst. Why did some people get the next page while others didn’t?

  7. Post a pic on here, I reckon you’re full of shit. This was posted right after the site went live and you’re claiming they’re all sold out. I call BS.

I am still waiting. No 2nd screen yet. Fifa would post announcement to brag if they sold out so quick.

  11. what annoys me that they opened the queue before the announced time. this suggests that some people knew when it exactly opened, giving them a head start. still waiting too…..and its getting late down under.

  12. On this forum, some people report getting through. Many fail to get tickets once they are in due to processing errors. A few people succeed. Most people are still waiting in the queue (like me): http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294280-i1045-k3703954-o3700-World_Cup_2014_I_know_its_early-Brazil.html

    • I’ll probably give up soon. People are refreshing their browsers to get in supposedly, but that’s such a crappy system. Refreshing, one would assume, would lose a person’s place in line… If I knew refreshing would get me in faster than waiting forever, I would have done it this entire time.

Read some posts about it not being First-Come-First-Serve. What was the whole point of this exercise? Any luck, anyone?

  14. I just got through after waiting in the queue for one hour, 10 minutes. My original window never came through. I was successful getting in in a window that I was refreshing constantly.

I got Level 1 tickets for Game 13/Salvador and Game 30/Manaus. The other two games I wanted were totally sold out except for handicapped seats. Those games were 42 in Ro and 50 in Rio.

I will try again for those in the next lottery phase. This process is very poorly executed. FIFA should be even more embarrassed than usual.

Good luck to all! Open many windows and refresh, refresh, refresh!

  15. I just got in by refreshing, and secured quarter-final tickets. Don’t give up, there are endless tickets available and you can get in!

I got through and bought tickets just then,,,stick with it everyone

  17. been waiting for 1hour 30 minutes now. is there any hope?

By the way, refreshing your page gets you in. Just bought 2 tickets! Cuiaba but just missed on Sao Paulo, still tickets available in smaller stadiums.

  19. Just read your comment Adam and thanks to your tip my partner has now got tickets! He had the computer open on the browser for an hour and 20 mins and then after reading this blog I opened up the same page on my IPad and refreshed twice and went straight through!
He’s the happiest man in Australia, Thanks and Good Luck everyone!

Iv been on 2 hours 40 minutes. FML!

  21. The constant Refresh works, too bad I waited 2 freaking hours in the BS Virtual Queue before trying this…Now all the tickets are gone for any of the venues I want

  22. I have just entered from virtual queue to next page after waiting for 3 hours.. it seems there are no tickets left from quarter final to final.. there are only few tickets for league matches.. just logged out without buing any ticket 2 min back

  23. Managed to get tickets for 2 Games in reclife tonight, plus got 2 games in Salvador in the first stage! Wel happy!

  24. Same here. I got screwed as well. Sat there with the “Virtual Queue” for 2 hours, when I saw this post, I refreshed right into the page, and nothing left that I am interested in. I even called them, and talked to a lady who had told me to just be patient.

  25. so if they actually sold out of tickets for these areas, why are there extra rounds and sales phases?

    • Roughly 1 million tickets were sold in the first two sales phases. The next two (a lottery and then another “first come, first serve” phase) have roughly 2 million tickets for sale. The next round follows the draw that will place teams into groups, thereby allowing for proper planning of Team Specific Tickets and whatnot.

  26. I could not sleep because of the tickets. I went to the queue 5:50am EST and had to wait 1.5 hours to get next screen. After trying to buy tickets while adding to cart they were already sold out. Any ticket I tried to pay after added to the cart said sold out. what a messs!!! 🙁

  27. Got tickets for Game 53 – Brasilia. The only one left from all the round of 16 games. I got in right at opening/9:00 Brasilia Time….and waited 1 hour.

  28. Got tickets for Manaus and Brasilia waited 24 in virtual queue

  29. At 09:00 Brasilia time (05:00Texas Time). I was able to login without problems, but there were no tickets available at this time above round of 16. Everything that was open was first matches (match 1 – 49). Now, with that been said, FIFA announced via FIFA news, Twitter, Facebook (I think) “Tickets for some games WILL NOT be available in this phase” that included; semifinals, opening and final match.” So you could still be able to get those high demand tickets in the next phase. fifa.com/worldcup/…index.html

I waited 1 hour – and yes, I did try refresh and also let the refreshing clock/time out do its job. Had several windows open (as most people did). After the hour, I was able to spot tickets to Game 53 – Brasilia. I am very happy!

FYI: Once you select your tickets and move on to the purchasing screen, people have 15MIN to decide whether or not to purchase the ticket. That is definitely holding the queue. People is waiting for something better to open up.

Hope this helps. Good Luck to all!

  30. This is absolutely embarrassing. I checked each of the 64 games, each team, each venue, and everything is unavailable? I’ve been in the last 4 World Cups and never, ever experienced such a thing. There’s is definitely something sketchy behind this. I was on hold for almost 3 hours this morning. On hold, online? It’s an automated system, there’s no such thing as a wait line. Either you are in or you are out. You are not out after 3 hours. Ridiculous and embarrassing.
