The Sights and Sounds of Downtown Santiago Chile Part 3

This is my third time to Santiago, Chile and I definitely have taken advantage of that $160 visa fee so far. It’s been my go to city for the past year because it’s so vibrant and Chilean food is so amazing. I’ve previously written about the Sights and Sounds of Downtown Santiago Chile Parts 1 & 2 here and here. This is Part 3 and will focus on what I saw during my short 12 hour layover two months ago in early December.

I started my journey walking all over downtown from the Bella Artes metro station. The wall murals have changed since I last visited in November of 2013.

The buildings around downtown Santiago are of Gothic architecture.

I strolled around the Palacio de La Moneda (Presidential Palace) area which is also nearby other government buildings such as the Treasury and the Ministry of Justice.

Afterwards, I walked around Huerfanos which is a long pedestrian only street that is filled with shops and restaurants.

I walked to the Plaza de Armas located in the heart of downtown Santiago Chile where there were trees decorated with paper Christmas themed ornaments.

There is the famous Metropolitan Cathedral of Santiago in Plaza de Armas and a nearby building which was festively decorated.

Located across the street from Plaza de Armas is the Museo de Santiago.

I walked north of Plaza de Armas to my favorite empanada place called Emporio Zunino.
