The Sights And Sounds of Downtown Santiago Chile

I took the metro from the Pedro de Valdivia station (nearby Sheraton Santiago) to La Moneda station (Downtown Santiago) and the journey took less than 20 minutes. I wanted to start my walking tour from the Palacio de La Moneda which is the presidential palace. In addition to housing the president of the Republic of Chile, the officers of three cabinet ministers also live there.

Here are pictures of the front and back of the La Moneda:

I walked around and saw important government buildings hoisted with the Chilean flag.

Near the main city center of Santiago Chile, you can find the Museo de Santiago.

Around the Santiago Museum, there are also many Gothic buildings and churches.

Outside the Santiago Courthouse, I saw a statue of a tall woman with her hand covered over her heart. The monument was splashed with different colors.

Walking towards the Mercado Central, I passed by the Municipalidad de Santiago and the Iglesia de Santo Domingo.

Near the Mercado Central was Card Jose Maria Caro street which houses this landmark:

Walking towards the Bellas Artes neighborhood was the famous Museo de Bellas Artes.

I walked towards Barrio Lastarria and ended up at the main street of Liber Bernardo O’Higgins where the Catholic University of Santiago was located. It has a Christ the Redeemer figure attached to the top of the building.

Along Liber Bernardo O’Higgins street, you can find the National Archives building, murals, and the famous Church of San Francisco.
