The Sights And Sounds of Barrio Lastarria in Santiago Chile

Barrio Lastarria is historical neighborhood found between the Bellas Artes neighborhood and the Catholic University of Chile. This is my favorite neighborhood because there are so many bars, restaurants, movie theaters, and live entertainment. When downtown Chile dies down at night, the Lastarria neighborhood thrives.

During the day, you can find quaint sidewalk cafes and restaurants in Lastarria.

If you want fine dining, there is plenty to be had in Barrio Lastarria.

I found an interesting café called Soma smartshop serving smoothie de cannabis. It’s 100% cannabis, but with no trace of THC which makes it legal to sell.

I went inside the smoothie shop and it looked very upscale with plush seating.

I found what they were selling pretty interesting. Is this even legal?

Anyways, I ordered the cannabis smoothie and it was a big disappointment. It was cool and refreshing, but the taste was awful.

You can also find souvenirs and gifts at this small local swap meet near the Catholic University Metro Station. I found some books, playing cards, and shot glasses. I would suggest haggling whenever you can in this type of setting.

During the evenings, Barrio Lastarria becomes a playground for live music and impromptu festivals. Independent artists perform and they pass by with a tip jar afterwards, even if you’re sitting down at a restaurant. I made a video of the neighborhood parade when I dined at a local restaurant during the evening.
