We didn’t have much time to explore Lima since our flight landed at midnight and we arrived at the hotel at 1am. The Sheraton Lima was walking distance to the historic center of downtown Lima. It was a 7 minute walk to Plaza San Martin which is a popular meeting-place for locals. There was free unprotected fast Wi-Fi provided by the Municipal City of Lima at Plaza San Martin. It was 1am and it was dead, but very lively during the day with vendors, locals, and tourists.

If you walk further north past the arcades of vendors, you will reach Plaza Mayor where the Government Palace is located.

In addition, you can also find the Cathedral of Lima, Archbishop’s Palace of Lima, the Municipal Palace, and the Palace of the Union in Plaza Mayor. Sorry, it was too dark to take pictures of anything other than the Plaza Mayor itself. The Government Palace was surrounded by police and an assault tank.

The sun came up and we were left with beautiful views of Centro Historico Downtown Lima from our hotel room at the Sheraton Lima.
