There’s a lot of talk on the internet about the safety of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Throughout my three nights and four days in Buenos Aires, I’ve walked pretty much everywhere and it was perfectly safe. In addition, I took taxis, buses, commuter trains, and the Subte (subway).

There’s a lot of graffiti in almost every barrio (neighborhood) and it’s perfectly normal to see that. There’s nothing to be afraid of.
The only thing I would warn you about is to not venture into Barrio La Boca during the evening because crime is pretty high there. I walked all the way from Retiro to Caminito in La Boca during the day and it was pretty safe.
Another area to avoid is Retiro around the main train station area during the evenings because it becomes a dodgy neighborhood. All sorts of interesting characters come out at night and it’s best to avoid it at night.
