Trip Report: My Mileage Run Vacation to Panama City

I took this trip back in early June of 2014 (Yes, I know I’m behind on trip reports) and wanted to check out Panama City for a day. Last year, I wrote 10 Things I Learned From My Recent Trip to Panama City. I’ve been to Panama City before, but never actually checked out the famous Panama Canal – so this was my chance.

Introduction to Panama City
LAX Flagship Lounge at American Airlines Terminal 4
American Airlines MIA-PTY 737-800 Business Class
My Experience Renting a Car in Panama City
Aloft Panama City Hotel Review
The Sights and Sounds of the Panama Canal
The Sights and Sounds of Casco Viejo in Panama City
Panama City Airport Tocumen Royal Saloon Airport VIP Lounge
Panama City Airport Tocumen Airport Club Lounge
American Airlines PTY-MIA 737-800 Business Class

I booked this trip for $335.40 on American Airlines with the routing of LAX-MIA-PTY-MIA-LAX.

I earned 6,987 elite qualifying miles at a rate of 4.8cpm and 13,974 redeemable miles since I am an American Airlines Executive Platinum member. In addition, I was upgraded on all segments due to the unlimited complimentary upgrade benefit for Executive Platinum members.

Since this was a mileage run vacation, I only wanted to stay one night at the Aloft Panama City Hotel and I rented a car for less than 24 hours. This was definitely a whirlwind of a trip for me because I Ended Up Giving Bribe Money to a Corrupt Police Officer in Panama City.
