Since I stayed at the same hotel in Belo Horizonte for 3 nights and 4 days, I had breakfast every morning which consisted of pao de queijo (cheesy bread), eggs, and sausage.
I loved the different varieties of Brazilian bread and pastries.
Pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) originated from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais and it was very easy to find in every corner of Belo Horizonte.
A small restaurant in Belo Horizonte offered a promotion of 4 paes de queijo for R$3.50 ~ $1.12 USD which was an absolute steal.
I couldn’t believe the enormous size of the cheese bread! It was absolutely delicious.
Another small snack stall offered a promotion of 3 pao de queijo for R$2.75 ~ $0.88 USD which was delicious.
At the central bus station in Belo Horizonte, I had a small fried snack from one of the vendors.
At the Mercado Central in Centro Belo Horizonte, I had feijao tropeiro for the first time which is typical cuisine in Minas Gerais.
The most famous dish from the Mercado Central is the figado acebolado com jiló which is beef liver with onions.
The best value for money food in Brazil is visiting a kilo restaurant where you can pick anything from the buffet spread and pay by the weight.
In the Savassi neighborhood of Belo Horizonte, I went to a kilo restaurant called Restaurante Prazer em Comer which was delicious.
In Ouro Preto, I went to a kilo restaurant called Maria Bonila Restaurante and Padaria where I had feijoada.
For dessert, I had acai topped with diced strawberries from Mega Acai in Ouro Preto. It was a delicious and refreshing snack to cool down on a hot day.
