A day with Warren Buffett…

By Plush Adventures

This past Saturday, I was privileged to spend the day with Warren Buffett…Cherry Coke, See’s Peanut Brittle, and a ton of laughs. Along the way, he shared some of his financial wizardry that makes him the Oracle of Omaha.

Of all the annual shareholder meetings, I find this one to be more than just a meeting; it is an event. The followers of Berkshire Hathaway crowd into mini stores to buy $5 boxers with Warren on them, M&M’s with his face on them, $5 for Fruit of the Loom 4 packs of boxers/boxer briefs, See’s Peanut Brittle and even ducks that look like Warren and Charlie. Let’s not forget the $1 DQ Dilly Bars and the Berkshire Hathaway special edition Brook’s running shoes. The Nebraska Furniture Mart and Borsheim’s also offer special shareholder pricing with amazing deals on everything from an Xbox 360 to a $1,000,000 diamond necklace. This is only the tip of the iceberg of what is available at the convention center and around Omaha with shareholder pricing!

(Lookout Lufthansa Ducks…Warren and Charlie have game!)

The biggest surprise to me was the number of miles/points people there are in the shareholder base. Standing in line to board the NetJet Global Express 6000, five of us jumped into a conversation covering birds, loyalty cards and the like. None of us were paying for anything that weekend…all attending on miles and points.
