Free Year Subscription For Free 2-day Shipping

I almost never pay for shipping and I almost always get 2nd day shipping for free. You’ve probably heard of Amazon Prime – pay $79 for the year and you can get free 2nd day shipping on all eligible purchases.  So what happens when you want to buy something that’s not eligible? Well, that’s where Shop Runner comes into play. Shop Runner is similar to Amazon Prime but offers a lot of additional services in addition to 2nd day shipping on all partner sites.

The cost is the same, $79 but there are a few other benefits that are worth noting – you get to share your account with up to 4 people.  You can have Shop Runner track all your receipts, orders and returns in one place – convenience! And returns always ship for free.

So, I said free year subscription, and I’m sure that’s what you want to know about. You can sign up for Shop Runner (using any credit card) and then take advantage of a promotion they’re currently running with American Express. If you have an American Express (personal or small business) card, you can use it to get 1 free year added to your account, a $79 value.

So the way I look at it, I get 2 years of free 2nd day shipping for $40 per year now. That’s a good value. You can also take advantage of other offers and promotions – you don’t have to log in through the Shop Runner site.  Here’s a basic example:

Today I needed to order some Method Soap refills. So I looked on Amazon – the refills didn’t qualify for Amazon Prime. So then I went to Shop Runner. The refills were available at Drugstore.com.

I logged into the US Airways Dividend Miles Shopping Mall (they have a current promotion to earn up to 100% bonus miles) and found Drugstore.com. Once on the Drugstore.com site I selected my items and at checkout was given the option, under shipping, to select my Shop Runner account.  In addition, you can also apply other promotions to the purchase. So for example, I had $5 of Drugstore.com dollars in my account which I was able to apply to the purchase.

So, I got the products I needed ($55 minus $5 drug store.com dollars = $50) will earn 3 miles per dollar spent on US Airways plus the 100% promotion (since I’ve already qualified) for a total of 300 miles and I will earn another $5 of Drugstore.com dollars to spend later. The best part is that I’ll have it all on Thursday.  Without Shop Runner, 2nd day shipping would have cost $12.

So, between Shop Runner and Amazon you can save yourself a lot of shipping costs – especially if you actually use it regularly!  Don’t forget to sign up for your second year of free shipping on Shop Runner to really make it a great value.
