Mattress Running for Starwood Preferred Guest Elite Status in Phoenix Arizona

There are some unbelievable hotel deals right now in the Phoenix, Arizona area during the hot summer months of June, July, and August. From the list below, there isn’t a single Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) hotel that is over $100.

What’s even better is that if you have an AAA membership, you can book the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown Hotel for $59. If you’re an SPG member (it’s free to sign up), you have access to the Hot Escapes rate where you can book the Four Points by Sheraton Phoenix South for $60.

Update 6/29/2014 – I found the Four Points by Sheraton Phoenix South hotel even lower at $52.00!

The two aforementioned hotels are great for mattress running to grab stay and night credits while you’re in Phoenix, Arizona.

Last year I stayed at the Sheraton Phoenix Airport Tempe and the Four Points by Sheraton Tempe Hotel. It’s quite tempting to make another trip to Phoenix to try out new Starwood properties and enjoy what the desert has to offer. In addition, it will help me pad up additional night credits towards being a 50 night Starwood Preferred Guest Platinum Elite Member.

Will you be taking advantage of these low summer rates in Phoenix?

  1. could you give some advice for Hyatt Challenge search for lowest rates ? thanks

  2. Choi, Frugal Travel Laywer just did a Hyatt Challenge. Until she writes about it, you could tweet her @FrugalTravelLaw or check out her website here on First2Board.

  3. There are Hyatts that run $63 on an elite rate in Phoenix. Was $50-$55 if you booked during the 7 day prepaid rate sale they had in May. I love mattress running in my hometown in the summer!

  4. These are great rates, but unless you *really* want to be in Phoenix during those dates, you can mattress run Starwood (if you are qualifying on nights) & Hyatt in Vegas for much cheaper…

SPG through Caesar’s: Up to 10 nights credit, check in to cheap places like The Quad as cheap as $30/night.
Hyatt through M-Life: Elite night & stay credit, as cheap as $27/night at the Excalibur.

  5. The downside to vegas is you have to fight against the resort fees. There’s only so many times that “the internet was slow” will work
