Kuala Lumpur 2014: KL Tower

Kuala Lumpur 2014: KL Tower

Instead of going to Petronas Towers, I thought it would be cool to go up KL tower. At this time, most of the observation deck was closed so they were allowing people to go up into the open air roof observation level. Unfortunately, I found it very expensive to go up so I stayed at the base of the tower. There were some great views, even from the base of the tower.

It is a decent walk from the train station. The closest one is Bukit Nanas. Here is a map of the walk:

When you make a right turn from Jalan Ramlee, as seen in the first picture, its an uphill walk. Consider taking a cab if you are not fit as it is normally 85F+ so you’ll be sweating a bit walking up the hill up to the tower. There is a free shuttle at the base of the hill up to the base of the tower (seen in the last picture).

You can wait here by the guard station for the shuttle bus up. Below are the pictures of the route up.

There is another short staircase from the previous picture (toll booth) up to the parking lot in front of the base of the tower (next picture)

Here are some pictures of the different activities at the base of the tower.

Here is the ticket counter for the observation tower.

You can walk along the outside perimeter of the base of the tower and here are some good views. The Petronas Towers is covered by other buildings and it seems as if you can only see one of them anyway.

Below is a picture of the shuttle waiting area at the bottom of the hill. It is a small van that acts as a shuttle up/down the hill.
