When I grow up I want to be Anthony Melchiorri. What an awesome job he has! If you haven’t heard of Anthony Melchiorri, then you’re not a true hotel geek. Anthony Melchiorri is the man behind Hotel Impossible, the Travel Channels newest reality show where Melchiorri helps struggling hotels turn themselves around.
If you haven’t seen the show, you must! It will change the way you look at hotels – forever! It’s fun, interesting and very informative. It’s because of Melchiorri that I no longer use wooden luggage racks at hotels and wipe down the toilet bowl handle every time I check-in somewhere!
Well, when you blog about hotels, and spend more than 80% of your life in hotels, tweeting with someone like Melchiorri is a dream come true. So here’s how it unfolded (and yes, I’m still excited about it!)
I responded to an tweet from Sheraton Denver Downtown. They had posted something about Hotel Impossible & Melchiorri which I found confusing – I wondered if Melchiorri had helped their hotel. To my utter surprise, Anthony Melchiorri responded! He did not work with the Sheraton Denver Downtown.

Then, I replied to Melchiorri to let him know I thought his show was great. And he actually responded! How exciting. But wait…it gets better.

I was so inspired and excited by the fact that he had tweeted back, that I then tweeted “tweeting with @AnthonyHotels is like hitting the jackpot for a hotel geek!” And, you guessed it, he responded – and retweeted!

So, like I said, for a hotel geek it really doesn’t get any better than this. I am a loyal show viewer – I DVR the show when I’m out of the country and I’m already watching re-runs. I can’t wait for more shows and really hope he does a “where are they now” episode.
So now my dream has come true – I’m an outed hotel geek 🙂 Cheers to Anthony Melchiorri for making my day week! And if you haven’t seen the show, go watch it now!

@The Weekly Flyer – you can watch online – unless you’re in a country where the show is blocked. Unfortunately for me, I spend a lot of time in countries where I can’t get to many of the US shows (unless I download them from iTunes).
Hi Stacey – Show is not blocked, but the wifi where I’m at (echemmm Hyatt) is not very good. So the shows won’t load.

I do the same (wipe down the toilet bowl) but what about the luggage rack? Do I need to worry about it too?
@Skeptical Traveler – sorry, you got caught in Spam! Anthony says that wooden luggage racks are the perfect home for bed bugs!! So use metal ones or don’t use one at all!
