The Sights and Sounds of Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro

I took a bus from El Centro to Urca and got off at Benjamin Constant. From there, it was a ten minute walk to the base of Sugarloaf Mountain. I didn’t realize I had spent so much time in El Centro and the traffic in Rio is terrible. I had less than 34 hours in Rio and I just saw awesome views of Rio de Janeiro from atop Corvocado Mountain, so I decided to skip the Sugarloaf Mountain attraction.

Sugarloaf Mountain is called Pao de Acucar in Portuguese. It costs R$53 for a round-trip on the cable car and R$23 for children. Apparently there is an unsigned trail where you can hike up to the second station and pay  R$22 to reach the top.  If you do this method, it is free to descend after 7pm.

Next time, I will definitely go to this attraction during sunset where I hear the views are amazing. I will be sure to plan more than 1 night in Rio!
