Trip Report: A Quick Jaunt from Los Angeles to Cabo San Lucas (Los Cabos)

Two weeks ago, I wrote about How I Booked a 2 Night Resort Hotel in Cabo with Flights and a Rental Car for Under $360. Well, the time has come and now I’m departing for my trip later on tonight. I’ll be getting in pretty late and will most likely be out in Cabo San Lucas in the wee hours. I’ll have all day Tuesday to spend in Cabo and will be leaving Wednesday morning.

Looking at my reservation details on SPG.com, it looks like I was pre-upgraded to a Royal Beach Club oceanfront room at the Westin Los Cabos Resort & Spa hotel. Hopefully, I can snag that suite as a Platinum member when I check in. In addition, I was pre-upgraded to an oceanfront one-bedroom suite at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar Golf & Spa Resort hotel.

What are my expectations of Cabo?

It will be my first time in Cabo and I’m going in with low expectations. I expect to get up-sold on the car rental and be forced to buy Mexican insurance. So much for that $9 rental car right?

  1. Renting cars in Mexico is fun! (no, not really). Cabo is a nice little town though. I think you’ll like it.
