Although Zona Viva is located five minutes away from the airport, there are many green zones and park monuments.

There is a large shopping mall in Zona Viva called the Oakland Mall. It’s rather large and looks like an Americanized mall with a movie theater, shops, restaurants, and cafes.

There’s also an outdoor shopping place called Fontabella Plaza filled with quaint restaurants, shops, and cafes. I went during Valentine’s week and there was an outdoor shop catered to the St. Valentines holiday.

There are also artisanal handicrafts and flower shops in Zona Viva.

If you like to gamble, there are numerous casinos in Zona Viva.

There are local Guatemalan restaurants called Kacao and Cafe El Portalito.

There’s also a Guatemalan fast food restaurant called Pollo Pinulito and Pizza Grizzly. In addition, there’s a Mexican chain restaurant called tacontento.

There are also familiar American chain restaurants like Hard Rock Café and Chilis.
