Locals love to take morning walks and jogs on the beachfront sidewalk promenade of Barra da Tijuca.

You can find people at all times of the day in front of the many beachfront sidewalk restaurants. It’s a great place to grab a snack and drink.

Barra da Tijuca is most famously known for their clean and beautiful beaches.

You can find beach chair vendors everywhere as they set up their own territory.

Roaming beach vendors are also everywhere selling clothes, food, and drink. You don’t even have to go up to them because they’ll come to you first.

Surf lessons can be had at the Escola de Surf Rico.

The beach is a great place to play volleyball, relax, and get wet.

One person was even trying to catch some fish!

I stayed for two nights and three days at the Sheraton Barra Hotel (now called the Radisson Barra hotel) and enjoyed oceanfront sunset views from my balcony.

I also visited a beautiful open-aired shopping center called Shopping Downtown which was also located in Barra da Tijuca.

I love the food options there which include Casa Pao de Queijo and Levemix (a kilo restaurant).
