Sheraton Asuncion Hotel Review Part 1

There aren’t many luxury hotels in Asuncion and I decided to book the Sheraton Asuncion Hotel which is considered the best hotel in Paraguay. I booked the Sheraton Asuncion for two nights on a 5,000 Starpoints and $75 USD cash rate which was a bargain compared to the $225+ room rates. Part 1 (this review) will focus on the room aspect while Part 2 will focus on the Sheraton Club Lounge evening appetizers and restaurant breakfast.

I took a public bus from Silvio Pettirossi’s Asuncion International Airport and luckily there was a stop opposite of the Sheraton Asuncion Hotel.

The lobby was quite exquisite and I felt like I was in a luxury hotel. Of course this doesn’t automatically translate that all the rooms are equally as nice since many hotels are deceiving with their luxurious lobbies.

The front desk agent advised me that I had been upgraded to a one bedroom suite and asked me for my choice of Platinum welcome amenity. In foreign countries, I always ask what the “local gift” is in lieu of the usual 500 Starpoint amenity. In this case, he told me that it was a gift box full of soap and I was totally intrigued. He went to the back office and brought it out to show me what it was.

There were actually 6 bars of handmade unique scented soaps which I valued at more than 500 Starpoints and it came in a wooden gift box which is great for gifting.

The suite living room consisted of sofa, coffee table, TV, and a dining room table with seating for four.

The bedroom consisted of a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper King size bed, plush chair with ottoman, executive desk, and a TV.

The bathroom was small and consisted of a single basin sink with the usual Sheraton bath amenities, a toilet, bidet, two bathrobes, a bathtub with a handheld attachment, and a seperate standing shower.

I had a hotel pool view and a city view of Asuncion.
