Points Summary

American Airlines MIA-LAX 777-200 Business Class

I landed at 5:20am in Miami, Florida from Asuncion, Paraguay and I had a bit of a hiccup with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol because they did not like my skateboard. I’m not sure why I always get picked for US Customs secondary inspection despite having Global Entry. I had a connecting flight from Miami to Los Angeles and the flight time was 5 hours.

The American Airlines Boeing 777-200 (772) is a three cabin plane with First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class. The Business Class cabin on the Boeing 772 is a 2-3-2 configuration with angled-flat seating. I couldn’t believe this plane had a middle seat in the Business Class cabin.

My angled-flat seat had a packaged pillow and a blanket and an in-flight entertainment system right in front of me.

The flight attendant offered me a glass of orange juice as a pre-departure beverage.

The flight attendant also handed out the Business Class menu and it reads as follows:

Entrees

Turkey bacon Quiche – Served with grilled vegetables

Smoked Salmon and Bagel – Accompanied by bibb leaf lettuce, fresh sliced tomatoes, cucumbers, caper berry and whipped cream cheese

Steel Cut Oatmeal – With mixed berries and brown sugar

Served with a selection of breakfast breads

Dessert

Mango Sorbet

Light Refreshment – Offered prior to arrival

Whole Fruit and Snacks – A selection of fresh seasonal fruit and premium snacks

Cookies – Freshly baked on board

Here is the wine and beverage list:

After the flight reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant offered me a beverage of my choice. I had a coke with lime along with the biscotti starter.

I took a look at the menu again and this was the exact same breakfast offerings as my flight from Los Angeles to Miami (LAX-MIA). Previously I’ve had the Turkey Bacon Quiche, so I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Bagel which I’ve also had before on a flight from Los Angeles to New York (LAX-JFK) on the A321T.

You can’t go wrong with either dish since both are delicious and I’m not a big fan of oatmeal. Afterwards, dessert was served and I had the Mango Sorbet. Again, you can’t go wrong with dessert on American Airlines and it was perfect to cleanse the palette.

Mid-way throughout the flight, the cabin crew passed by with a snack basket with an array of items such as Garrett’s popcorn, key lime cookies, chocolate, and granola bars. There was also a fresh whole fruit basket containing apples, oranges, and bananas.

45 minutes before the flight was scheduled to arrive in Los Angeles, the flight attendant passed out a freshly baked on board cookie with a glass of milk.

I’m really impressed with American Airlines because they really stepped up with premium food offerings on their Los Angeles to Miami and Miami to Los Angeles flights. The service is nearly identical with premium routes such as Los Angeles / San Francisco to New York and New York to Los Angeles / San Francisco. The flight attendants were courteous, attentive, and quick with the meal service. That’s all I can really ask for on a Business Class flight on American Airlines.
