Plaza Uruguaya is a main landmark and park located in downtown Asuncion, Paraguay. The park was named Plaza Uruguaya as a gratitude to the Uruguayans who gave the confiscated trophies during the Triple Alliance War back to Paraguay.

I took the public bus towards Centro Asuncion and I got off in front of Plaza Uruguaya.

People come to Plaza Uruguaya to socialize with friends and pass time by sitting in the park reading the newspaper or a book.
Plaza Uruguaya is known for its many bookstores such as the El Libro En Su Casa (The book in your house).
There were also street vendors in the park selling goldfish in bottles and plastic bags.
Plaza Uruguaya is surrounded by hotels, shops, and bookstores.
There are also historical buildings around Plaza Uruguaya such as a museum called the Estacion Central del Ferrocarril, Museo de Bellas Artes (Museum of Fine Arts), and the Archivo Nacional (National Archive).
You can get your empanada fix at a restaurant nearby called Mingo which has been around since 1979.
There are also street vendors nearby Plaza Uruguaya that sell fruits, vegetables, and snacks like chipa piru (Paraguayan Cheese Bread that looks like a bagel).
You can also buy the famous Paraguayan mate beverage called terere which is a traditional caffeinated tea drink made with yerba mate dried leaves and water. You can find terere vendors all over downtown Asuncion and throughout Paraguay.
