The Sights and Sounds of Plaza de La Libertad in Asuncion

Plaza de La Libertad is another green park with lots of vendors selling local goods and souvenirs. Plaza de La Libertad is a block away from Plaza Juan E. O’Leary and Plaza de La Democracia bordering the streets of Calle Olivia, Chile, Estrella, and Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion.

Limes are a big deal in Paraguay since most local cuisine includes some sort of citrus.

Here’s a video I took of Plaza de La Libertad in downtown Asuncion:

Plaza de La Libertad is famous for the Monumento La Razon Vence a La Fuerza also known as monument to the heroes as a tribute to the Paraguayans who fought in the War of the Triple Alliance.

Paraguayan locals sit by the monument and pass time by sipping on terere in which they carry everywhere with them.

In Plaza de La Libertad, you can find shoe repairman and shoe shiners along with yerba mate vendors for terere.

I found that Plaza de La Libertad caters mostly to locals where there is an abundant amount of clothing vendors.

You can also find competitive prices on local handicrafts as well, but prepare to bargain since the prices tend to be higher than at Plaza Juan E. O’Leary.
