I love using UberX in Los Angeles to get from Downtown LA to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and vice versa. I’ve previously used Uber in foreign countries such as Singapore and Bogota to get around the city and have been highly satisfied. When I was in London last week, my friend needed to get from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to St Pancras International Train Station. This is my experience using Uber in London.
The price of an UberX from LHR Heathrow Airport to Central London is a flat rate of 37 GBP ~ $57.97 USD which isn’t too bad at all because the journey takes 45 minutes by car with no traffic.

We stayed at the Sheraton Heathrow Airport hotel and requested an UberX ride at 4:34am which had an estimated wait time of 6 minutes.
The driver came in a Honda Insight Hybrid car and the entire ride to the St. Pancras/Kings Cross Station took 45 minutes.
The total ended up being 27GBP ~ $42.30 USD (after the 10 GBP new user ride discount) which is an absolute bargain for London.

That’s a very good deal. we spent £85 on cab from downtown to airport to catch 6am flight, wish we knew about uber in London , we considered taking the night bus, but we can’t get an Oyster card at night and the bus doesn’t accept cash.
why not just ride the train which takes the same amount of time for less money?
The train (Heathrow Express) doesn’t run at 4am…. My friend needed to be at St Pancras very early and this was basically the only option other than a long night bus.
We took Uber in London several times and although it is still more expensive than Uber in the US. Everything is expensive in London lol our ride from Clapham South to Heathrow was 48GBP. Although it is faster than public transit, u less it’s an super early flight, I’d rather take a tube just for experience 🙂
