Trip Report: My Summer Vacation to Bogota Colombia

I booked a trip to Bogota, Colombia earlier this year in April for travel in mid-August. This isn’t exactly my usual mileage run vacation because I paid 6.9cpm for my trip, which isn’t a mileage run fare at all. As you know, I love traveling to South America as I have previously visited countries like Peru, Brazil, and Chile. My goal is to visit every country in South America and Latin America since I try my best to avoid traveling to Europe.

My routing was LAX-MIA-BOG-MIA-LAX on American Airlines and I paid a total of $536.90 with taxes included.

This comes out to 6.9 cents per mile which isn’t exactly a mileage run since summer fares are always expensive. Though, I did earn 7,697 elite qualifying miles and 15,394 redeemable miles which was not bad at all. I used two American Airlines systemwide upgrades to upgrade my coach fare to First/Business Class and I was confirmed right away.
