Charleston Sessions Sneak Peak

The First2Board team is getting very excited about the Charleston Sessions September 6-8th. This event will be the first in a series of City Sessions.  Charleston is a wonderful city with a rich history and trendy food scene and we’re sure you’ll enjoy this fun event.

Founded and settled by English colonists in 1670, Charleston grew from a colonial seaport to a wealthy city by the mid-eighteenth century. Charleston’s economy prospered due to its busy seaport and the cultivation of rice, cotton, and indigo.  Even today, Charleston is home to one of the only working Tea plantations in the United States.

In April of 1861, Confederate soldiers fired on Union-occupied Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, thus signaling the beginning of the Civil War. After the war, the City gradually lessened its dependence on agriculture and rebuilt its economy through trade and industry. Today approximately 4.51 million people visit the Holy City.

Holy City? Yes, Charleston is known as the Holy City and if you come visit, you’ll learn why.

Tickets will go on sale June 15th. There will be several package offerings mixing the best of what Charleston has to offer.  Those people who have signed up for early VIP access will get to choose their tours and dinner locations first. Sign up if you haven’t already!

Here’s a look at what we’ve got planned for you:

Friday Night

Cocktail Reception – shoot a little pool, take a dip in the pool or just mingle at the bar with fellow attendees.

Saturday

Morning – Mix and Mingle after breakfast, hear from Lufthansa Director of North American Communication and then learn about Charleston’s role in the creation of the Boeing 787 (The Charleston Boeing Plant is home to the Dreamlifter where 787s are assembled and on any given day you’ll see a 787 taxing along side a C-17 and regional jet since the runway is shared by Boeing, the Joint Air Force Base and commercial and private airports.)

Lunch / Afternoon – we’ll head to downtown Charleston where you can have lunch on your own (don’t worry, we’ll make suggestions) or take a stroll through the farmers market for some local fare and explore the city on your own.

Dinner/Evening – you’ll be able to choose from one of two of Charleston’s acclaimed restaurants for a memorable dinner.  After dinner, select one of two tours – a ghost tour (Charleston is said to be very haunted) or a traditional Charleston Pub Crawl.

Sunday

Morning – we’ll head back into downtown Charleston for a walking tour of the historic parts of Charleston followed by a special Sunday Brunch.  During the brunch, you’ll hear unique presentations from The Mr Pickles and Frugal Travel Guy.  They will cover two topics that have not been discussed before at any conference or seminar so you’re sure to learn something new about travel.

Buses will head back to the hotel so you can make an afternoon flight or you can stay on and enjoy more of what Charleston has to offer (like the beach!)

We look forward to seeing you in Charleston (hotel and registration info will be released on June 15th)

Schedule subject to change and alternate arrangements will be made in the event of rain
