W Atlanta Downtown Hotel Review

I love the W and I love Atlanta (because my niece and nephews are there).  Last week, during Thanksgiving, I had the opportunity to stay at the W Atlanta Downtown thanks to Cliff aka PerryPlatypus (@mpperryplatypus on Twitter).  The certificate was for a weekend stay, but the hotel agreed to honor it for Thursday (Thanksgiving) and Friday night, which was perfect for me.

I arrived at the hotel around 8pm and upon arrival the hotel manager invited me to the Living Room, W Atlanta Downtown’s lobby bar.  The hotel had made me a special arrival drink – a homemade version of my favorite Starbucks drink, a cool lime refresher. It was such a great surprise. This is the reason that I love the Starwood Preferred Guest program and why I continue to be so loyal to Starwood.  It’s such a great surprise when a hotel goes out of the way to make you feel extra special and since I really never expect it, it really is a surprise and treat!

I was upgraded to a studio suite and shortly after I arrived in my room, there was a knock at the door. The hotel had sent up complimentary sparkling water.  Already in the room was a plate of pumpkin flavored brownies and a Happy Thanksgiving note from the hotel.

The room had a king-size bed, a work desk, an L-shaped couch and entertainment center.  The W bed is one of my favorite beds, I always sleep great.  The bathroom was very large and had a shower, double sinks, and separate room with the toilet.  Unlike the W Midtown Atlanta, the bathroom is not see-through from the bedroom. The bathroom was filled with Bliss Spa amenities and in fact, had more Bliss amenities than  any other W I’ve ever been to.  In addition to the soaps, lotion, body wash and shampoos, they provided Bliss Fabulous Face Wash, Loofah sponge, Eye Makeup remover towelette, a dental kit, a shaving kit and sewing kit.

The hotel offers valet parking for $30/night which is very steep for Atlanta. It took around 15 minutes from the time you requested the car for it to be brought around.  The hotel has several options for dining/drinking including the well known BLT restaurant.  Since it was a holiday and I was visiting family I didn’t try any dining options.

Overall, I liked the hotel very much and the staff was wonderful. I would stay at the hotel again for sure.
