The Sights And Sounds of Cerro San Cristobal in Santiago Chile

Cerro San Cristobal is a hill most famous for the statue of the Virgin Mary. It is easily the most visited tourist attraction in all of Santiago, Chile. When I was trying to find the location on Google Maps, it gave me several locations that were incorrect. Finally, I got a map from the hotel concierge and found out that it was located near the Chilean National Zoo.

To reach Cerro San Cristobal, you need to take the metro and get off at the Baquedano station. Walk north of Plaza Italia onto Pio Nono street. Eventually, you will reach a dead end where you will need to take a funicular up the hill.

It costs 2,000 Chilean Pesos ~ $4 USD for a roundtrip ride on the funicular which was a complete bargain.

The funicular ride was like an attraction in itself. Be prepared to wait in Disneyland like lines as the funicular is really slow.

Once it is your turn to ride up the funicular, the views are completely amazing.

When the funicular comes to a stop, you can find many small food and souvenir vendors at the base of Cerro San Cristobal.
