The Sights and Sounds of Santa Fe in Bogota

Barrio Santa Fe is considered one of the slum neighborhoods in central Bogota, Colombia. The Santa Fe neighborhood is now the city’s main red light district in Bogota. Prostitution remains legal in Bogota’s instituted so called “Tolerance zones” which Santa Fe is part of.

To get to the red light district, you would need to get to the Calle 22 Transmilenio bus station located on the intersection of Calle 22 and Carerra 14.

Immediately, you can tell that the surrounding neighborhood is the slums with lots of construction, torn down buildings, and massive graffiti.

You can find many spas services offering more than just a manicure.

The most famous brothel in Bogota is called La Piscina located in the Santa Fe red light district.

There are also more brothels and nightclubs called El Castillo and Las Vegas.

Many of the streets are lined with trash and it’s not uncommon to find condoms or even a pair of women’s shoes lying around.

Furthermore, once you get into Bogota’s red light district, you can find a lot of street prostitutes and trannies hanging out in the streets offering you their services. I did not partake in any of this and did not take any pictures going into the heart of the red light district.
