The Sights and Sounds of Ajman United Arab Emirates

I spent one night at the Ajman Saray Resort Hotel and explored Ajman the next day. Ajman is probably one of the most underrated emirates in the UAE and most people haven’t even ventured out there. Ajman is located north of Dubai and it’s a working class neighborhood with a plethora of office buildings, markets, shops, and restaurants.

There’s actually a downtown in Ajman with office buildings and skyscrapers, but you’ll hardly see a soul walking out and about because it’s so hot.

One definitely needs to be equipped with a cold bottle of water while walking around Ajman on a hot August day.

Ajman also has quite a few mosques for Muslims to pray to Allah.

The main streets of Ajman are flooded with small shops such as stationary supplies, plants and medical herbs, pharmacies, arts and crafts, travel agencies, electronics, driving school, and tailor shops.

In addition, many small shops reign on the side streets of Ajman as well.

There’s also an Al Mosala Souk which is a local market with various vendors.

There’s a lot of shopping to be had at the City Mart, Al Madina Supermarket, Al Manama Hypermarket, and the LuLu Hypermarket.

I found these Lay’s potato chips quite interesting with Arabic lettering.

I bought a pre-paid Du Mobile SIM card with data from the airport, but I found a cell phone shop at Ajman where the internet packs were cheaper. 2GB of mobile data was 98 AED ~ $26.68 USD and 8GB of mobile data was 195 AED ~ $53.09 USD for Du customers which is valid for 30 days.

I was quite fascinated with seeing the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai on buildings and even inside souvenir shops.

Food is quite plentiful in Dubai and there are no shortage of restaurants and cafeterias.

I went to Al Fasih Restaurant and ordered the Paya Bakra (Lamb trotters) for 6 AED ~ $1.63 USD and it came with a side of bread. It was absolutely delicious and the price was really inexpensive.

On one of the main roads in Ajman, I went to the Midan Al Kuwait Cafeteria and tried out the local coffee with condensed milk for 1 Dirham ~ $0.27 USD. It was served in a tiny cup and tasted great.
