American Airlines JFK-GIG 767-300 Business Class

After enjoying a delicious meal and having a refreshing shower at the American Airlines JFK Flagship Lounge, I headed to the departure gate to board for my flight to Rio de Janeiro. The flight from New York’s Kennedy to Rio de Janeiro (JFK-GIG) has a flying time of 10 hours. Thankfully, I was upgraded to Business Class with an American Airlines Executive Platinum Systemwide Upgrade.

The Business Class cabin on a Boeing 767-300 (763) is in a 2-2-2 configuration.

The seats are angled-flat and I chose the middle section due to direct aisle access. I don’t want to climb over someone (or have someone climb over me) when I have to use the lavatory.

The flight attendant had a passed tray of pre-departure beverages that contained water, orange juice, or champagne. I went with the latter.

There was a Business Class amenity kit in one of the center storage cubicles.

The flight attendant passed out Business Class menus and it reads as follows:

After the flight reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant passed out Samsung Galaxy Tabs which served as a portable in-flight entertainment system.

Shortly thereafter, a hot wet towel was given.

I had my usual cranberry and vodka with lime to go with the hot mixed nuts.

The starter consisted of seared ahi tuna and a hearts of palm salad with bread which was delicious.

As an entrée selection, I selected the steak which was covered in cheese and served with creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. This was the best steak I’ve ever had on a plane and the sides were delicious and complemented well with the beef.

For dessert, I had a made to order ice cream sundae where I always choose a little bit of every syrup and topping. You can’t go wrong with the signature American Airlines ice cream sundae and it’s fantastic every time.

After the meal, I knocked out and advised the flight attendant to wake me up for breakfast.

I absolutely dislike breakfast on American Airlines because it’s always that nasty omelet or a pizza dish. I had the omelette which was disgusting and the potato cakes were hard as a rock. The only saving grace from the dish was the fresh fruit and it’s hard to mess that up. The service on the flight was excellent and professional as always. My only complaint is that breakfast needs to improve and I only wake up for it because I want to fully review the flight.
