American Airlines JFK-LAX A321T Business Class

This was my last leg on my way home from Rio de Janeiro and what better way to end it than to fly on the brand new American Airlines A321T. I’ve previously reviewed the A321T thoroughly here and here. The lunch flight from New York to Los Angeles (JFK-LAX) was close to 6 hours.

The Business Class cabin on the A321T is in a 2-2 configuration with lie-flat seats.

I had orange juice as a pre-departure beverage.

The flight attendant passed by the cabin with the Business Class menu. The menu reads as follows:

Starter

Smoked Salmon – Accompanied by seared ahi-tuna

Salad

Seasonal Greens with Strawberries and Pecans – With your choice of classic Caesar dressing or premium extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar

Assorted gourmet breads will be served with your meal

Entrees

Spinach and Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breast – Served with haricots verts and a rosti potato cake

Classic Caesar Salad and Corn Chowder – Served with an optional grilled chicken skewer (This soup and salad option does not include the starter salad.)

Stuffed Portobello Mushroom – Portobello mushroom stuffed with a wild rice vegetable blend, topped with mozzarella cheese served with a roasted red pepper sauce

Dessert

Traditional Ice Cream Sundae – Vanilla ice cream with your choice of hot fudge, butterscotch  or seasonal berry toppings, whipped cream and chopped nuts

Gourmet Cheese Plate – An assortment of fine cheeses with garnishes

Light Refreshment – Offered prior to arrival

Whole Fruit and Snacks – A selection of fresh seasonal fruit and premium snacks

Cookies – Freshly baked on board

After the flight reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant passed out a hot wet towel.

I had the usual cranberry vodka with lime to go along with my hot mixed nuts.

The appetizer consisted of smoked salmon, ahi tuna, salad, and bread.

For lunch, I had the Stuffed Portobello Mushroom which was a unique and delicious entrée.

The best part about the transcontinental lunch service is American Airlines signature ice cream sundae. I get really giddy when I see the cart come rolling down the aisle.

I always choose ‘a little bit’ of everything as my syrup and toppings choice for my ice cream sundae. (Pardon the size & quality of the picture.)

I got in a quick nap after lunch. During this time, the flight attendant would have been up and down the aisle mid-flight with a fruit and snack basket in case you’re hungry.

One hour before landing in Los Angeles, the flight attendant passed out fresh baked on board cookies. I had the white chocolate chip with raisins which was delicious.

I absolutely love flying on the brand new American Airlines Airbus A321T transcontinental plane. The downside is that meal service was particularly slow on this flight. On a 5 hour flight, a complete meal service could take up to 2 hours. The flight attendants were friendly and they all seem to love the brand new Airbus A321T.
