The hotel is in Cotai, which is far from the historic downtown area. Cotai is the new island that was built for the new casinos, hotels, development buildings, and adjacent to their international airport.
From my last post, I took the Turbojet ferry from Hong Kong. I then got on the free shuttle bus to the hotel. It runs every 20-30 minutes and had a ton of room.
We went through one of the back entrances for the Sheraton. When I stepped in, I was surprised at the size of it. Sheraton occupies one of the towers in this complex, which is made up a casino, convention center, shops and two other hotels, one of which is still being built. Just imagine Vegas but now the Sheraton is one of the hotels.
When I checked in, they gave me a map of the place and it was huge. It would take me about 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other with many shops and two mini casinos in the middle. Take the map and study it as you may get lost in this place.
I was upgraded to a suite. I believe the entire floor had these one bedroom suites and there only seemed to be a few people on my floor, despite being the end of a week long holiday in China.
The bathroom was really nice and big. I used the tub for a nice long soak to relax my muscles for the upcoming marathon while I was reading a book.
I got to the hotel around 3pm and by the time I checked in and got to my room, It was about time for happy hour at the lounge. I took the elevator down and walked over to the club lounge. I got there a bit early so snapped some photos of the lounge before the crowd showed up.
Unfortunately I didn’t bring my camera for happy hour as I was walking through two casinos and didn’t want any trouble. The happy hour was decent, but nothing to rave about.
After the lounge, I walked through both pools at the Sheraton. the first one was pretty nice and geared towards adults.
The second one was more kid and family oriented with some cabanas in the middle and shallow pool surrounding it. I walked through the gym as well but I wasn’t allowed to take any pictures and there were a few Sheraton staff in the gym. It was a nice modern gym.
This was the picture I managed to get of the Venetian Macao from the pool area. The Venetian was a slightly smaller property than the Cotai Convention Center with the Sheraton in it.
The breakfast at the Sheraton Macao was amazing. It had a wide spread of items, hot and cold. I tried almost everything. Their BBQ pork was nice, but not as nice as the one from Mott32 in Hong Kong.
Here were some shots of the Sheraton lobby. It was quite large with multiple check-in areas. The last picture was the only SPG-Elite check-in area I could find.
This was a great property with nice large rooms and facilities, but it was far away from the historic Macao that I had hoped to see. Next time, I will be picking a hotel on the main island to walk through the historic areas.
