The Design District is one of the best neighborhoods to live in Helsinki, Finland. There are many quaint parks, tree-lined streets, amazing restaurants and cafes. The Finnish people love design and most of the architectural buildings are of Finnish design. Design is basically what the Finns are most proud of as you will see many boutique shops selling design décor and furniture.

The Design District begins at Esplanadi Park and you will get into the Design neighborhood as you head down South.

The Design neighborhood is also very residential with lots of housing and retail on the lower levels.

The Finns also like to bike around Helsinki as it is very eco-friendly. I’ve even seen many bikes unlocked and unattended in front of an establishment and building because crime is low to almost non-existent in Helsinki.

The Design District is also very green in the fact that you can find a park or a series of green trees in almost every corner of the neighborhood.

There are also many churches located in the Design neighborhood such as the famous Uspenski Cathedral.
