This will be a two part review of the Le Meridien Beach Plaza hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The first part will focus on the room portion and the second part will focus on the breakfast and outdoor private beach. I booked the room for 169 euros ~ $232.10 USD with taxes included using the Beat the Timer rate (now called Hot Escapes). The Le Meridien Beach Plaza is the only Starwood hotel in Monte Carlo, Monaco and I really wanted to try it out.

My flight landed in Nice International Airport (NCE) and I took an air conditioned bus for $20 USD to the Le Meridien Beach Plaza hotel. The journey took approximately 45 minutes due to multiple stops and the bus dropped me off right in front of the hotel. $20 USD is much cheaper than a 100 euro+ cab fare!
I arrived at the hotel around noon and the check-in line was ginormous. I used a Suite Night Award and was confirmed into a Design Suite five days prior. The front desk agent politely told me that my room was not ready and that they were cleaning it. It wouldn’t be ready for another hour, so I kept my belongings with the bellman and ventured off the property into Monte Carlo for a quick lunch.
An hour later I received my keys to the Aquarius Design Suite which was located on the top level of the hotel. Here is a video I made of my suite:
The living room was quite small and could seat three comfortably. The living room also had a flat screen TV with a red desk.
There is a hallway from the living room to get to the bedroom.
As you can see, the bedroom has an open floor plan layout where there is a visible bathtub and sink. I have seen this same open floor plan layout at the Sheraton Sao Paulo and the W Santiago which I have previously reviewed on my blog.
The shower area is located in the bedroom near the sink area, but is semi-private due to the fact that you can’t see your partner showering from the bed.
In the connecting hallway, there is also a private bathroom.
The best part about the room was access to the outdoor balcony from the living room. There are magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea.
This was one of the nicest Starwood suites that I have been upgraded so far this year. It was tough not leaving the room when you can just watch TV all day while taking a bubble bath.
