I used 10,000 British Airways Avios points to book a one-way in economy class from Los Angeles to Mexico City (LAX-MEX). I added my Delta Airlines Gold Medallion number (Skyteam Elite Plus) to my reservation and was able to get a complimentary upgrade. One of the benefits of being a Gold Medallion is being able to receive complimentary upgrades on award tickets.

The Boeing 737-800 is a 2-2 configuration with 16 seats in First Class.

I had plenty of legroom in my bulkhead aisle seat.

The flight attendant offered a pre-departure beverage and I chose water.

After reaching cruising altitutde, the flight attendant passed out a savory snack mix. I was a bit disappointed since I was served hot nuts on this exact same flight earlier this year.

I usually order cranberry and vodka with lime, but on red-eye flights, I tend to just have a coke with lime.

The red-eye meal consisted of pasta and salad which was pretty good.

I’ve always had excellent service when flying on Alaska Airlines whether it’s from Los Angeles to Mexico City or Mexico City to Los Angeles. It’s always a treat to be able to fly with a professional crew who is always seemingly smiling and doing their job to their best of their abilities.
