W Singapore Sentosa Cove Hotel Review Part 1

I booked the W Sentosa Cove Hotel using 22,500 American Airlines miles on useaamiles.com. The hotel was going for well of $400 and I thought it was a great deal to use American miles instead of 20,000 valuable Starwood points. I had the hotel add my Starwood Platinum number and placed in the notes that I would love to be upgraded to an AWAY Room or Suite if possible. I wanted to be in an AWAY room because it has a private plunge pool and the Marvelous Suites (usual Platinum upgrade) don’t have that.

I took an Uber from the Westin Singapore over to the W Singapore – Sentosa Cove hotel which took 14 minutes. My first impressions of the hotel were “WOW!” The huge W logo was welcoming and the décor inside the hotel was absolutely stunning.

I checked into the hotel and was surprised to see that I got a Spectacular AWAY room upgrade from the standard Wonderful room. Sadly, the AWAY Suites were not available and it would’ve been a sick upgrade. The assistant manager who checked me in told me that there were only a few AWAY rooms in the entire hotel.

The AWAY Rooms are located one level below the hotel lobby. I had to pass by the beautiful AWAY Spa and swipe my keycard to access my room.

I made a video about the Spectacular AWAY Room:

The room wasn’t large by any means, but it was an adequate size with modern décor and attention to detail. When I walked into the room, there was a minibar to the left and a large work desk to the right.

I received a welcome amenity which consisted of an Apron, an alcoholic concoction, BBQ sauce from SKIRT, and a box of chocolates. There was also a handwritten card from the W Insider welcoming me to the hotel.

The bedroom area consisted of a King size bed, plush seating, and a mounted flat screen TV.

The bathroom was one of the most eye appealing bathrooms I’ve ever seen. There was a double basin sink with the usual Bliss spa amenities, bathroom, and a rain-forest shower.

The best part about the bathroom was the large rectangular bathtub with a mounted flat screen TV.

The best part about the Spectacular AWAY Room was the private plunge pool which I can access directly from the bedroom. The outdoor furniture consisted of plush lounge seating and a small round table with a chair.

Continue to Part 2 where I will review the delicious food the W Sentosa Cove has to offer and my final thoughts (link active tomorrow on 5/26).
