Japan Airlines 767-300 NRT-SIN Economy Class

This was my first time flying Japan Airlines and I didn’t know what to expect. However, I did know that this was going to be a long 9-hour flight from Narita (Tokyo) to Singapore when I just got off a 13-hour flight from Dallas. I was trying my best to get an upgrade to the coveted JAL Sky Suite II. The agents seemed clueless in how to sell me an upgrade while transiting in Narita, so I was stuck in economy class.

Before my trip, I called American Airlines to assign me a seat in the coveted exit row aisle, seat 45C. Before boarding for my flight, the gate agents separated the passengers by forming two lines, Economy and Business/oneworld Elite customers.

The Boeing 767-300 JAL economy class cabin is in a 2-3-2 configuration.

I quickly found my exit row aisle seat in 45C and the amenities were a small pillow and blanket.

I was surprised at how much legroom and space there was in the exit row.

The flight left on time and as soon as the plane reached cruising altitude, the flight attendant served me a drink of my choice (Coke) and rice crackers.

Shortly thereafter, dinner service began and the flight attendant showed me a printed picture with the two entrées being offered. There was a choice between chicken and pasta and I chose the pasta dish. The pasta dish was served with two Japanese appetizer side dishes and a small salad.

For dessert, a small container of Haagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream was passed out.

I was dead tired from my previous flight and was practically falling asleep during my layover. I couldn’t wait until the meal service was done. Thankfully meal service was done quickly and efficiently therefore I slept quite a bit on this flight.

An hour before landing, the flight attendant served a French toast pastry and a cup of orange juice.

In terms of economy flights, this Japan Airlines flight ranks near the top. The best economy flight I’ve ever been on was on LAN Airlines. The service was excellent and the flight attendants treated every passenger with respect, unlike other airlines where the flight attendant barks at you. The food wasn’t bad either and the unlimited legroom space made the flight much more enjoyable.

  1. I flew this route before and I think you over estimate the flying time.
the time different between Sin and Nrt is about 3 hr and flying time is around 7 hrs.
