The Sights and Sounds of Savassi in Belo Horizonte Brazil

The Savassi neighborhood is famously known for its large concentration of cafes, bars, restaurants, and nightclubs in Belo Horizonte. It’s occupied by mostly the young millennial generation looking to have a good time with friends. Trendy restaurants and cafes are the main attraction with plenty of shopping to choose from as well.

It was a 30 minute walk south from my hotel in Centro Belo Horizonte to the Savassi neighborhood. Alternatively, it’s a 6 minute cab ride away, but I always like to walk whenever possible. It was a Tuesday afternoon and there was a huge street festival of some sort.

There were street vendors selling their artesanal handicraft wares.

It was also game day where Algeria was scheduled to play Belgium and there were many Alegerian and Belgian fans around the Savassi neighborhood.

There are a countless number of bars and restaurants around Savassi.

I watched the Algeria v. Belgium World Cup match at Bar 80 where it was completely crowded.

I ordered two cups of Brahma beer while enjoying the match and Belgium eventually beat Algeria 2-1.

For lunch, I went to a kilo restaurant called Restaurante Prazer em Comer in Savassi.

Kilo restaurants are awesome because you get to choose what you want to pile on your plate and only pay by the kilo weight.

The food in Belo Horizonte is simply to die for.
