The Sights and Sounds of Taipei 101

One of the most touristy attractions in Taipei is the Taipei 101 skyscraper which boasts 101 floors and was once named the world’s tallest building in the world (now Burj Khalifa). The Taipei 101 neighborhood is very upscale, trendy, and fashion forward.

It was a rainy afternoon in Taipei when I got off at the Taipei City Hall MRT Station. I walked through the promenade and saw protesters outside the Taipei 101 building.

I looked above awing the Taipei 101 structure which was covered in fog.

Inside the Taipei 101 building is the Taipei 101 Mall which houses the entrance to the observatory. It didn’t make sense to buy a ticket to the observatory since the weather was gloomy.

The mall contained typical shops you would find in an upscale North American shopping center. There’s also a nice food court inside with prices that won’t break the bank.

There’s another outdoor shopping complex adjacent to Taipei 101 with luxury retail shops such as Cartier, Chanel, and Salvatore Ferragamo.

There was also a large movie theater nearby called the Vieshow Cinemas.

Taipei 101 is also home to trendy nightclubs such as Hive Club and Babe 18.

While walking back to the Taipei City Hall MRT Station, I went inside the Discovery Center of Taipei which is an educational center.

Nearby was a large art installation by the water fountain outside the Taipei Discovery Center.

I finally reached the Taipei City Hall MRT Station where I took in the scenery of beautiful Taipei. It’s great that Taipei has a bike sharing program that reduces emissions, however I chose to take the subway back to my hotel.
