The Sights and Sounds of Harajuku in Tokyo Japan

The Harajuku district of Tokyo is another youthful neighborhood in Japan that embraces Japanese culture and fashion. My visit to the Harajuku neighborhood was very brief and I only had time to visit the famous Takeshita Street which is a pedestrian-only street.

Instead of taking the Tokyo metro subway from Shibuya Station to Harajuku Station, I opted to walk since it was so close. It was an 18 minute walk from Shibuya to Harajuku Station, but it only takes 2 minutes on the Yamanote Line by subway.

Right opposite of the Harajuku Station was the infamous Takeshita Street. It was early in the morning therefore not many shops were open yet. Japanese locals were mainly using Takeshita Street to get to work.

You can find shops such as Daiso and small trinket stores in the side streets.

Plenty of fast food restaurants and cafes are located on Takeshita St. such as McDonalds, Lotteria, and Italian Tomato Café Jr.

If you love crepes, you can also find Marion Crepes (Patissirie from Harajuku since 1976) and opposite is the rival Creperie Santa Monica Crepes. I really wanted a crepe so bad, but they were both closed at 9am.
