Sheraton Grande Taipei Hotel Review Part 1

Room rates are astronomically high for luxury hotels in Taipei. I wanted to try out several Starwood hotels in Taipei and ended up choosing the Sheraton Grande, Westin Taipei, and the W Taipei hotel. I booked the Sheraton Grande Taipei on a BRG rate of $226+ tax which is probably the most I’ve ever spent for a Sheraton hotel. Part 1 of this review will go over the room details and the Sheraton Club Lounge. Part 2 of this hotel review will go over the lobby restaurant breakfast offerings.

I love the location of Sheraton Grande the hotel is across the street from the Shandao Temple MRT Station, one stop away from Taipei Main Station.

I arrived at the hotel around noon and the front desk agent said he upgraded me to a Junior Suite. He also handed me a letter stating the Sheraton Club Lounge benefits:

– Breakfast in the Sheraton Club Lounge from 7:00am – 10:30am (Monday – Friday) On Saturday & Sunday from 7:00am – 11:00am
– Afternoon Refreshments from 14:00pm – 16:00pm
– Happy Hour from 17:00pm – 20:00pm (Hot dishes are only available from 17:30pm – 19:30pm)

I checked the SPG app after being upgraded and noticed the hotel calls the Junior Suite a Director Room. The Director Room consisted of a sofa, coffee table, TV, and an executive desk.

There was also a welcome letter with whole fruits on the coffee table.

A Junior Suite is basically a large room with the bed and living room coexisting without a wall barrier. The two single beds were right behind the sofa. The room was literally big enough for the hotel to add a wall and call it a one bedroom suite.

The entryway corridor had a mini bar section with a coffee maker.

The bathroom was small and consists of a single basin single with Sheraton bath amenities and standing shower.

The best part about the room was the large soaking tub looking out to the room. If you want bathtub privacy, there are blinds that roll down.

Later on in the evening, I visited the Sheraton Club Lounge for afternoon refreshments.

The afternoon refreshment spread consisted of a pork bun, cheese sandwich, peanuts, gummy bears, assorted desserts, and cookies.

Tea and coffee was available in addition to bottled beer and soft drinks.

I had two pork buns, a beer, and dessert. The afternoon spread was really small and I didn’t have time to check out the happy hour for evening appetizers which I assume has a bigger selection.
