Lima International Airport SUMAQ VIP Lounge

Back in May of 2013, I wrote a review about the SUMAQ VIP Lounge at Lima International Airport. It was easily one of the worst lounges that I have ever visited. The Wi-Fi was super slow and was worse than a 14.4k baud dial up modem. The lounge food was lousy. The only thing that this lounge has going for is the orange juice machine. I wanted to see if things have changed since my last visit.

To access the SUMAQ VIP Lounge, you will need an invitation from a oneworld airline if you’re a sapphire or emerald. This lounge also accepts Priority Pass memberships.

The SUMAQ lounge is almost always packed at any time of the day and that’s because there’s only 2 lounges in all of Lima International Airport. What makes this lounge unique is that there’s an outdoor smoking area with seating.

The lounge also has a business center with computers.

The buffet spread was paltry and consisted of cereal, pound cake, chocolate cake, hard boiled eggs, various breads, and fruit.

The highlight of the lounge is the orange juice machine where you place three oranges and the machine pours out freshly squeezed orange juice.

I had two hard boiled eggs and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.

The lounge Wi-Fi was still slow and non-connecting at times. This was on par with my previous visit to the SUMAQ lounge. Don’t expect to do some real work online or get connected to the internet if you’re visiting this lounge. Seriously, the only thing that the SUMAQ lounge has got going for is the novelty orange juice machine.
